The introduction of the Taycan, Porsche’s first electric vehicle. Providing aid to the community in the midst of COVID-19. A massive increase in operating results. There’s a lot that’s happened for Porsche in the past half a decade.

So what’s one thing the past 5 years have in common for Porsche? Leadership under CEO Oliver Blume. As of October 1, Blume has been behind the steering wheel at Porsche under its most successful time in history. Needless to say, there’s a lot of accomplishments to cover in recent memory — and we’ll be breaking them all down in today’s post, so keep reading to learn more.

The Porsche Taycan

If electric cars are going to be the vehicles of the future, Porsche is doing them the right way. The Taycan Turbo boasts 0-60 in a flat 3 seconds and a 161 mph top track speed while being instantly recognizable as a Porsche.

It is exactly Porsche’s no-compromise attitude that has led to the universal praise for the Taycan. In the past 5 years, many people questioned the future of electric vehicles, but if Porsche continues to innovate — after all, the Taycan was recently voted the world’s most innovative car — we’re sure to see improvements in the industry that make electric cars a tangible reality.

Operating Returns Are Up

According to a recent article from Automotive World, “Porsche AG achieved a return on sales of 9.9 percent.” More interesting still is Blume’s promise to invest billions of euros into new technology over the next five years. In other words, he’s doing his part to make the next five years even more successful than his first five leading Porsche.

What Porsche Is Doing Amidst the Coronavirus

A recent Newsroom article notes that Vice President of Procurement Metal Christian Haffinger believes that the biggest thing to do during COVID-19 is to work to overcome it together. “If it helps our partners, we will accept goods in advance and store them at our premises,” he said.

They go on to say that “Blume has steered the company through the coronavirus crisis relatively unscathed, overcoming supply chain issues, driving charitable donations and community aid, and implementing measures to safeguard Porsche employees around the world.” If that’s not a step in the right direction, we don’t know what is.
