If you were looking forward to enjoying your 2022 911 GT3 with a six-speed manual transmission in the months ahead, we have some bad news — Porsche can’t sell this vehicle in California. If you’d just as soon drive the automatic version, you’re in luck, because Porsche is presenting the option to those who have preordered to choose the seven-speed automatic transmission instead.

But why exactly is this happening? How are we feeling about it? We’re sharing everything you need to know in today’s post, so keep reading to learn more, and if your Porsche is in need of service or repairs, contact the pros at HOUSE Auto Group today.

Why Can’t Porsche Sell the Manual 911 GT3 in California?

According to Car and Driver, “Porsche can’t sell the 2022 911 GT3 with the manual transmission in California because it’s too loud, exceeding vehicle noise limits in the state’s Code of Regulations.” In this instance, the team at Porsche is as surprised as anyone else. In fact, Porsche just found out that this was going to be an issue, and they are currently working with officials to see if a solution can be achieved.

Our Thoughts On What Is Happening

Needless to say, this news is disappointing. There’s just something about driving a Porsche with a manual transmission that’s special. That’s not to say that automatic transmissions are anything to scoff at, of course, but for us, it is unfortunate that there is no longer a choice in which GT3 can be purchased.

It is important to note that the automatic transmission still boasts some truly spectacular numbers. Car and Driver notes that in their test, “an example equipped with the standard dual-clutch automatic, which will be available in California, reached 60 mph in 2.7 seconds.”

How everything will play out remains to be seen, but we’re choosing to be optimistic about the prospects of seeing the manual 2022 911 GT3 at some point in the future. As the saying goes, only time will tell.
