With its sub-7-minute Nürburgring Nordschleife lap time — yes, you read that correctly — the 2022 Porsche 911 GT3 is making some serious waves. GT3 fans will likely remember that the first GT3, which came out in 1999, recorded a lap time of under 8 minutes which was quite an extraordinary feat!

Even more interesting is the fact that the 2022 GT3 is a whole 17 seconds faster around the track than the previous GT3. It’s enough to get a Porsche enthusiast’s heart racing! Believe it or not, there’s a lot more to love about the latest GT3 and we’re sharing it in today’s post. Different, Yet The Same

Car and Driver notes that, “The Porsche 911 GT3 changes, but it mostly stays the same. Since the 996 generation launched the dynasty in 1999, the GT3 has remained true to its original form with a high-revving naturally aspirated flat-six, track-biased suspension, no back seat, and a commendable lack of fripperies and needless ornament.” They go on to mention that the latest iteration of the GT3 has, however, undergone some interesting changes.

There are many changes that have been made, but perhaps most notably is Porsche’s use of a rather assertive aerodynamic profile which Porsche says helps to generate more than 150% additional downforce than the GT3 before it.

With changes being made to the suspension, aerodynamics, the rear wing, and more, GT3 enthusiasts are sure to find that the latest model provides everything you already loved about the GT3 — and then some.

Expect The New GT3 This Fall

If you’re chomping at the bit to get your hands on a new GT3, you’re not alone. Luckily, you won’t have to wait long, with current speculation being that the first round will be arriving at dealerships in the United States at some point this fall at a potential price in the $140-$150k mark.

CNET also mentions that the 2022 GT3 will “no doubt be offered in a whole bunch of rad colors, not to mention Porsche’s seemingly endless paint-to-sample catalog.” It doesn’t get much better than that.
