If you own a Porsche but you’re not fluent in German, don’t worry — you’re not alone. “Sound nacht” simply means “Sound night” or “night of sound,” and what we’re referring to can only be described as a celebration of some of the great exhaust notes that have ever exited a Porsche’s rear end. If human flatulence is something to be embarrassed about, then automotive flatulence couldn’t be any different.
The Latest Porsche News From Our Pasadena Porsche Service Pros
Indeed, Porsche just hosted their eighth annual Sound Nacht earlier this month, and the footage of the event isn’t what we’d consider to be boring in the slightest. You see, at HOUSE Automotive, we believe that cars were solely meant to be driven. They were meant to be appreciated, and whether that means parking your vehicle across the parking lot and admiring it from afar or revving your engine with a giddy smile across your face, in either case, you’re paying respect to our favorite automotive brand that we know and love.
We trust that our blog readers are just as nerdy as we are about all things Porsche. Anyone who’s not an enthusiast like we are might look at an event solely dedicated to revving the engine of 13 different Porsche models as…well, nerdy would probably be putting it lightly.
Alas, we digress. Here are the models that participated in this year’s Sound Nacht (all video clips are credited to youtube user LoveForPorsche):
Porsche Panamera Sport Turismo
The Panamera itself looks great, but we’re not sure what’s going on with the dancers around the vehicle. Perhaps this is Porsche’s take on automotive interpretive dance? The clip above is certainly worth a view.
Porsche 356/001
The 356, known as the original model that basically started it all (read more here), sounds amazing.
Porsche 962
The 962 practically “speaks” for itself, but what else would you expect with an F1 vehicle?
Porsche 804 Formula 1
Ah, this is a true Formula 1 vehicle because that’s literally what it’s called. Magnificent!
Porsche 917
We wouldn’t recommend standing directly behind this one.
Porsche 911 RSR Turbo 2.1
With a wing that large, you could practically fly to the moon with it.
Porsche 935/78
Non-street legal Porsches get you illegally good exhaust notes.
Porsche 911 GT1-98
From the looks of it, this would be an expensive Porsche to break. From the sounds of it, we’re absolutely sure that it would be a fun one to ride around in.
Porsche 959 Paris-Dakar
There’s no faster vehicle to off-road in than the Paris-Dakar. Man, we really adore this special model.
Porsche 964 Carrera Cup
It’s that old-timey sound paired with modern day hype.
Porsche 996 GT3 Cup
If you look closely, you’ll notice that this one begins to slide a little bit on the rotating turntable that it’s parked on!
